AEK reached the top of Super League Greece after 24 years as they showed stability, passion and quality throughout the season. They played in the Europa League until the stage of 32 and went all the way to Greek Cup (0-2 to PAOK in the Final) playing 52 matches in total, but managed to handle the pressure. 2018 champions were also not botered by the fact that they were left without two of their most important footballers, captain Petros Mantalos and Swedish midfielder Jacob Johansson, for almost six months due to serious injuries.
The most vital wins were the two amazing comebacks against Olympiacos, the home win over PAOK in the first round, the away win against Panionios and the victories in the crucial period of the second round, when the title battle was hung from a wire.
The 2-0 victory over Levadiakos at the Olympic Stadium on April 22 clinched the title and the trophy prize was awarded two weeks later when AEK defeated Apollon away and followed the frenetic party to streets of New Philadelphia with the participation of about 40,000 fans.
