AEK FC unreservedly and by all means condemns the incidents of violence that took place on Tuesday night at the Olympic Stadium of Athens, not only because they happened during a match for UEFA Champions League, but also because they insult the long history of our club.
We worked very hard in every level in order to return to the most important European club competition; what happened during AFC Ajax home clash does not represent the timeless football philosophy of our club and is completely against our principles and the values we honor and serve.
AEK FC never refused its own responsibility, we are not even interested in dispensing the blame for what happened and the exact timeline of Tuesday’s incidents, we will not try to find “light” excuses and alibis.
We totally understand the immediate reaction and repulsion of the great majority of our moral fans, who are always the harsher and most important judges to us.
That is what hurts us the most, because the supporters of AEK FC, who expect from us every necessary move ahead of the return to our own stadium, have nothing to do with such behaviors and have also proved that many times in the past.
The obvious thing is condemning what happened on Tuesday and the most important thing is taking all necessary action in order for such incidents not to take place ever again.
We have proved that we know well how to correct our mistakes.
