AEK FC announces the return of Sergio Araujo to the club, until the summer of 2018! The argentinian striker agreed terms with AEK FC and he will wear again the shirt of his favourite team! El Chino is back, in order to continue what he started last season!
Sergio Ezequiel Miguel Dela Vera’s Araujo was born in Neuquén of Argentina on January 28, 1992. He became part of the youth academy of Boca Juniors when he was very young and made his professional debut in 2009-10, when he was 18 years old. During his career at Boca Juniors Araujo made 22 appearances and scored 1 goal.
In 2012, Boca loaned him at Barcelona B, where he made 34 appearances and scored 7 goals in 2012-13.
In 2013-14 he loaned by CA Tigre of Argentina (12 appearances, 2 goals) and the next year moved on loan again to Las Palmas, where he scored 25 goal in 43 appearances in Segunda Division B!
In 2015, Las Palmas promoted to Primera Division and “El Chino” made 43 appearance and scored 7 goals in 1,5 year (August 2015-December 2016) for Las Palmas.
During the last season, Araujo had 21 appearances in total, with AEK FC, scored 9 goals and he also had 6 assists. His winning goal at the last fixture of the Super League playoffs against Panionios, brought AEK FC at the first place of the playoffs table and made the first crucial step for the returning of our club to the European competitions.
During his entire career he has 187 appearances and 53 goals
Sergio Araujo has also 16 appearances with the National teams of Argentina U17, U20, U22 and U23, having scored in total 8 goals. With the Argentina U20 he had reached the Final of the Pan American Games 2011.
