AEK FC announces the transfer of the British international defender Joleon Lescott, who signed a two-year contract with AEK Athens. The club welcomes him for this new chapter of his big career.
Joleon Lescott was born on August 16, 1982 in Birmingham, England. Scouted by Wolverhampton, Lescott made his senior debut at 18. Lescott was named Wolve’s Fans’ player of the season in his first year at the club. Next year, he won the same award again. In his last season with the Wolves (2005-6) he was voted Players Player of the Year.
After six seasons with the Wolves in the summer of 2006 he moved to Everton where he played for four years. At the end of the first year he was voted player of the year by his teammates. One year later, he was as a Fan’s player of the season. Lescott later played in the FA Cup final for Everton, resulting in a defeat to Chelsea..
In the summer of 2009 he was transferred to Manchester City where he played for six seasons and won two Premier League championships (2012, 2014), a FA Cup (2011) and a League Cup (2014).
In the summer of 2014 he was transferred to West Bromwich Albion and last year he played in the Premier League with Aston Villa. He has a total of 286 appearances in the English Premier League with 23 goals, 9 assists, while in 100 matches of them the team has never been beaten by the opponents.
Between 2000 and 2013 Joan Lescott played in all national teams of England, culminating in 26 appearances with the National team of which he was a member in the final stage of Euro 2012 and scoring his only goal against France.
