AEK FC defeated 2-1 Panathinaikos FC at Apostolos Nikolaidis Stadium, Athens, in a game of Matchday 5 of STOIXIMAN SUPER LEAGUE 2023-24.

Double winners lined up in the athenian derby without some key players, but achieved a great comeback and added another big away win under their belt after the one in Brighton. Panathinaikos took the lead in the 10th minute with a shot by Filip Djuricic but AEK equalized in the 36th minute with a shot by Steven Zuber. Orbelin Pineda scored the winner in 68th minute after following a combination of Rodolfo Pizarro and Steven Zuber who made the assist.

A shameful and insulting banner to the memory of Michalis Katsouris was hung in the stands and the AEK FC side demanded to be taken down in order to play the game.
