The first squad of AEK Athens returned to training on Monday ahead of a busy pre-season schedule with morning and afternoon training. The first one took place in the morning at Spata and in the afternoon the team took holy water by the priest and they continued with their first training with the ball. The summer signing Ronald Vargas was absent due to his participation in the recent Copa America as he has some more days off.
Traianos Dellas the head coach of AEK stated: "We had two difficult years but with work and love between us we managed to get back where we should. We'll have to work harder now though.. Our goal is to create a team that will play a leading role in Greece and abroad. I hope the team will be complete before the basic pre-season training in Poland in order to work all together.
When journalists asked him what ΑΕΚ fans should expect, he answered : "Everything they expected from AEK Athens in the years before: be a leader. The objectives of the team are always high. "
