Mario Daniel Vega was born on June 3, 1984 in Neuquen, Argentina. He made a career as a goalkeeper playing for Nueva Chicago, River Plate, Anorthosis, Miami FC, Tampa Bay Rowdies and San Jose Earthquakes. He had Matias Almeyda as his coach in the Californian team and when in March 2022 he announced his retirement, he joined his technical staff. In the summer of the same year he followed the Argentinian manager to AEK FC.
