Massimo Carrera the new head coach of AEK FC! \\

ANNOUNCEMENTS \\  8/12/2019
AEK FC announces the appointment of Massimo Carrera as the new head coach of the club, with contract until the summer of 2021.

Massimo Carrera was born on April 22, 1964. He made a significant as well as long career as a professional football player in which he played for Juventus, Napoli, Atalanta, Bari, Pescara, Alessandria, Treviso, Pro Vercelli, Pro Sesto and Russi.

In 2008 he decided to retire at the age of 44 and a year later began his career as a coach, starting with the Juventus Academy. In 2011 he joined the technical staff of the first team, working for Antonio Conte, and in 2012, after a 10-month ban against head coach and his first assistant Angelo Alessio, was asked to assume the role of caretaker manager of "Juve".

At his first game on the bench he won the final of the Italian Super Cup against Napoli (4-2). Eight more games followed, with six wins and two draws. In 2014 he moved with Antonio Conte to the Italian national team.

In July 2016 he agreed with Spartak Moscow to become assistant of Dmitry Alenichev. However, in early August the Russian manager resigned after his team elimination from the UEFA Europa League by AEK Larnaca and Carrera agreed to take over as coach. Under his guidance, Spartak won the championship after 16 years, with the Italian manager accepting a contract renewal. Also he was named Russian Premier League Coach of the Year (2016-17)

The following season (2017-18) began with the Super Cup win and UEFA Champions League participation, with the Moscow team finally finishing third in the championship, just 4 points from the top. He resigned from Spartak in October 2018.

Massimo Carrera, welcome to the family of AEK FC!
