AEK Athens announces the start of cooperation with the Portuguese Hugo Almeida for the next two years.

Hugo Miguel Pereira de Almeida was born on 23 May 1984 in the city Figueira da Foz in Portugal. His professional career began from the B group of Porto in 2002 and became a key to the first team in 2005-06 (35 appearances and 5 goals in official matches) after he had already played on loan for U.D Leiria and Boavista .

During the five years 2006-2011 he played at Werder Bremen scoring 63 goals in 176 official matches and the following four years he joined the Turkish Besiktas, where he played 109 official games and scored 47 times. In later years he played in Cesena, Anzhi, Kuban and Hanover.

He has celebrated the Portuguese champion (2004, 2006) the Portuguese Cup with FC Porto (2006) the German Cup with Werder (2009) and the Turkish cup with Besiktas  (2011). With Werder was tthe finalist of the UEFA Cup in 2009. In total he has played in 68 games in UEFA club competitions with 21 goals.
AEK Athens' new football player is international with all the national teams of Portugal. He was a member of the National Team in Euro 2008, 2012 and in 2010 and 2014 World Cup and. He has a total of 27 appearances with 16 goals at the U21 Portugal National and 57 appearances with 19 goals with Portugal National.

In his career he has participated in a total of 432 official games with 145 goals
