AEK FC announces the international friendly match with Sevilla FC, 2015 UEFA Europa League Cup winner, on Saturday 8th of August at the Olympic Stadium of Athens.
AEK will welcome for the first friendly game of the season -after the pre-training season in Poland- the Andalusian team with the five European trophies over the past decade (four Europa League Cups and a European Super Cup) who already secured its spot at the Champions League groups for the fifth time in its history the upcoming season.
Sevilla FC SAD was founded on 14 of October 1905 winning a national title (1946), five Spanish cups –the last one in 2010.
AEK and Sevilla will meet for the third time for a friendly game in Athens. The first game was held on August 19th, 1996 (3-2 final score). The two teams had met thanks to AEK’s player transfer Vassilis Tsiartas to the Spanish team and the second time they for a 45’ friendly game on August 3d, 2001 when AEK won 1-0.
Since then the two clubs have played 3 times, with an equal number of victories for Sevilla FC, one during the UEFA Cup and two during the Champions League qualifiers with latest game in the Olympic Stadium on September 3d, 2007.
