Manolo Jimenez is the current manager of AEK FC and has already worked twice for the club in the past, winning the Greek Cup (2011) and Greek championship (2018).

Born in in Arahal, Province of Seville, during his playing career he played mainly for Sevilla FC, which he represented during 14 professional seasons, making his La Liga debut in 1983–84 by appearing in one match then proceeding to amass nearly 400 overall appearances with his hometown club. He also earned 15 caps for the Spain national team and played at 1990 World Cup in Italy.

During seven seasons, Manolo Jiménez was the coach of Sevilla's reserve team, Sevilla Atlético, leading them to the second level in 2007. On 27 October of that year, following the resignation of Juande Ramos, he was promoted to the main squad, initially until the end of the campaign. He guided the Andalusians to fifth place and "upgraded" to third in 2008–09, with a subsequent return to the UEFA Champions League.

Since October 2010, he has worked three times for AEK FC, along with some short-term spells with Real Zaragoza (2012-13), Al-Rayyan SC and UD Las Palmas (2018). He won the Greek Cup of 2010-11 season, the Greek championship of 2017-18 season (his team lost two consecutive Greek Cup finals at 2017 & 2018) and also led the Double-Headed Eagle to 2017-18 UEFA Europa League's round of "32" for the first time after ten seasons, while he returned to Athens in February of 2019, replacing manager Marinos Ouzounidis, for his third spell at AEK FC.
