Nikos Koustas was born on 22 January 1984 in Athens. He started his coaching career in July 2013 at Cyprus Korydallos, which he took over in the 3rd category of the EPSP and reached with them a breath away from promotion to the 3rd National League. His next stop was Agios Ierotheos (March 2017 - November 2017).

In the summer of 2018, he took over AE Moschato and won the league in the top division of Piraeus (with 29 wins and one draw) and promotion to the 3rd National League.

In September 2019, he sat on the bench of Kifisia and led him to winning the title of 2020-21 season in Group 7 of the 3rd National League and to promotion to a professional league (Super League 2) for the first time in their history, with a record of 15 consecutive wins in 16 games!

In July 2022, he took over Panionios and stayed until 20 February 2023.
