AEK came from behind to beat GNK Dinamo Zagreb 2-1 at Maksimir Stadion in the first leg of the 2023-24 UEFA Champions League Third Qualifying Round, played in the shadow of last Monday's tragic events and the murder of AEK fan Michalis Katsouris.
The Greek Double winners made a colossal performance in the second half and won 2-1 with the goals by Steven Zuber in the 59th minute and Kostas Galanopoulos in the 90th. Galanopoulos held up the black armband and dedicated the goal to Michalis!
The Croatian champions took the lead in the 39th minute with a free-kick from Marko Bulat, after a highly controversial decision by Portuguese referee João Pinheiro .
The 2nd leg will by played on Saturday (21.45) at OPAP ARENA.
