AEK FC announces the transfer of the Venezuelan international footballer Ronald Vargas. The 28 year-old attacking midfielder signed for two years.
Ronald Alejandro Vargas Aranguren born in the city Guatire Miranda in Venezuela on 2 December 1986. He began his football career at the Academies of Caracas and in 2006 stepped into the first team. Two years later he was transferred to the belgian FC Brugge for the sum of 1.5 mil. euros, a record fee for a player from Venezuela.
In 2011 he moved to Anderlecht where he also played for three years until last summer, when he switched to Turkish Balikesirspor. He played 25 games and scored 6 times.
"Ronita" has won two championships with the Venezuelan team Caracas and three championships and a Super Cup with Anderlecht. The 2007-08 season was named top player in the league of Venezuela and in 2008 top player of his country abroad.
Ronald Vargas, 19 times international with three goals, participated with National team of Venezuela in the recent Copa America and played during all three games of the tournament. He made his debut with the national team of his country against Haiti in February 2008 and scored his first goal in the historic victory of Venezuela, Brazil 2-0 in June of the same year.
